Bawtry Phoenix Theatre

As Bawtry’s Arts venue, the Phoenix Theatre is home to Bawtry Dramatic Society, with a membership of around 60 people, producing between three and four productions a year; The Young Players, currently running at their maximum membership of 40, who meet every Saturday morning and perform in around two productions a year; Bawtry Film Society, showing around 20 critically acclaimed British and foreign films a season; and regular Folk and Blues music evenings.

Bawtry Phoenix Theatre welcomes new members, whether you are interested in acting, set building and design, sound and stage lighting, costume, props or prompting. Experienced or not, enthusiasm is all that is required. They are a friendly, inclusive group and many of the members come from all over Doncaster and South Yorkshire. For further information on how you can become a member, have a look at their website.

The theatre, together with its coffee lounge and bar facilities, is also hired out for local community and school events and plays.
It offers:

• A 72 seat raked auditorium with upholstered seating
• A stage with full lighting and recently up-rated sound system
• A retractable 10′ by 8′ screen in the stage area
• A 600sq foot recently refurbished comfortable lounge
• A new high specification kitchen with coffee bar
• Excellent bar facilities.

Various hire packages are available depending on needs.
The lounge and auditorium can be hired separately or as a complete package.

The Film Society exists to show critically acclaimed English language and foreign films – mostly released within the previous 12 months. Membership of the Film Society is by seasonal membership subscription. For a full list of their film schedule, have a look here.
