The Classic & Contemporary Cake Co

The Classic & Contemporary Cake Co. came to life in 2004 when its creator Sonya Nokes decided to put her years of culinary experience to good use and turn her pastime into a full time career. With over 25 years of cake making experience Sonya quickly gained a following of loyal customers who were amazed by her artistic skills and her ability to create mouth-wateringly good cake!!

Whether it was a wedding cake or a celebration cake it wasn’t too long before the phone was ringing off the hook!

Such was the demand for Sonya’s cakes that The Classic and Contemporary Cake Co. developed and introduced a fantastic range of muffins to the market place which were sold from the company website. These fantastic gift boxes of beautifully wrapped muffins have made their way to homes and businesses throughout the UK and continue to do so! As the Company progressed from a cottage industry into a thriving business Sonya and her husband Simon decided to take the next step and open a shop from which to sell Sonya’s fantastic baked goods.

Looking for a nice place to open the shop wasn’t too difficult as Bawtry was well known to them and seemed like an obvious choice – A thriving town crammed with fantastic independent businesses.

In late 2011 therefore The Classic & Contemporary Coffee Shop was opened in Dower House Square, Bawtry and it has gone on to become a thriving meeting place for loyal local regular customers and for those from further afield who come to Bawtry in search of something a little different from the regular High Street offering.

Selling Sonya’s cakes, muffins, tray bakes and locally renowned scones should have been enough but the menu was enhanced even further with a great range of platters, sandwiches, wraps and paninis as well as regular specials and lots of other light meals being offered seven days a week.

In April 2014 a second shop was opened at Yorkshire Caravans of Bawtry. The shop is a bigger more spacious version of the original but has stayed true to Sonya and Simon’s vision. Great coffee, great food and great cake – none of which would be much good at all without the great staff who work for the Classic Group of Companies and who provide a great service to customers day in day out.

While the cake business progressed Simon and Sonya were purchasing several properties with a view to providing a quality rental experience for customers at home and abroad. Renting properties in Spain to holiday makers and letting homes in Doncaster and the Dearne Valley – Classic Apartments is available to members of the public who fancy a break in the sun or a quality place to live in South Yorkshire.
